Taking a spatula from Bravetart, I am experimenting with extracting pineapple essence from the inedible, fibrous core of a specimen I dissected today.
In one corner, we have specimen A: passive extraction, no added water:
In the other corner, weighing in with a 1:1 water:sugar ratio, we have the boiled candidate. Simmered on the stovetop, status checks every 15 minutes.
Results: Stovetop version dissolved all the sugar, strong pineapple flavor, slow, syrupy texture. Also, cooking softened the solids and made them edible.
Passive version did not dissolve all the sugar.
Both had a strong pineapple aroma.
