We traditionally make guac with ripe avocados, chopped fresh cilantro, diced red onion, salt, and lime juice. I get avocados from Costco all the time. But what to do when you’re missing some key ingredients? I can’t keep a cilantro plant alive to save my life (or its life, come to that.) And I don’t usually have red onion or fresh limes about, either.
Guac is essentially ripe avocados mashed with seasonings and loosened with some citrus juice. Improvise.
Ingredients (1 avocado per serving)
- 1 ripe avocado
- any kind of seasoning, such as Everything Bagel. Or just whatever herbs you feel like.
- add salt separately if not included in your seasoning mix
- citrus juice (lemon or lime)
Directions
- Mash avocado
- Add seasonings, mash some more
- Add juice 1 tsp at a time to loosen to your liking
